Our Week That was Christmas!

Oh Christmas! It came and went pretty quick didn't it? I spent a good couple of months preparing for Christmas gift wise so I was able to relax and avoid the crowds. We did the food shop a few days early and although packed and slightly over budget, I was still pretty pleased with the outcome!

Christmas Eve was a quiet affair with me, Jay and the little ones. The day before we treated the children to a meal out and then walked the long way home taking in the beautiful light decorations around our area. Some people make such an effort. We'll make this our new tradition I think, it was so nice and we all felt rather festive.

After the little ones had scattered their reindeer dust and were tucked up in bed with their new pjs on from the elves,Christmas Eve prep began. We prepped our vegetables and double checked everything was in order for our first year of hosting Christmas.
After double checking everything, we placed the gifts under the tree, stuffed the stockings and did a few little extras to make Christmas morning that little bit more special.

We woke at 8am Christmas morning to midge and A dumping stocking fillers on our laps and shrieking with joy at their generous loot from Santa! It was lovely! Even jay and I enjoyed our stocking fillers.

Santa had made quite a mess downstairs with his sparkly, snowy boots (thanks Santa!) but the tree was bursting with gifts. We all had 8/9 gifts each and opened them all in a few hours. We had a delicious family breakfast before starting to cook the first Christmas dinner in our new home.

We saw Nanny and Grandad briefly who dropped off some more gifts and cards. We shared a drink and a chat before getting on with our cooking and them getting on with their Christmas deliveries (there's a lot of grandchildren on Jays side!)
My family (mum, dad and younger brother and sister) turned up around 2pm. Dinner was ready for 4pm and if I may say so myself, it was SO good!

The children had a good sleep that night ready for Boxing Day with their cousins. We pulled off our first family Christmas without a hitch and had a wonderful day.
